Veterans Day Weekend Kickoff Cookout Set for November 8th

There are two things all of the employees of this firm have in common; we like to get out of the office as much as possible, and we love to raise money for worthy causes. Each year we participate in the Relay for Life, and we have had two successful Walk4Vets events. We even started an annual scrapbooking crop that raised over $3500 in April of last year. We also love interacting with Veterans. So, Veterans Day is a pretty big deal for us.

In 2012, we hosted our first Veterans Day cookout. The event was a huge success, and it helped raise money for our Walk4Vets Foundation. This year looks to be even better. On Friday, November 8th, 2013 the VA Department of Jan Dils Attorneys at Law will be hosting the 2nd Annual Veterans Day Weekend Kickoff Cookout. From 11:30 until 1:30 on Friday afternoon. The employees will be serving traditional cookout food to the community. The cost is only $5 for all you care to eat. It gets better though. Veterans and active duty service members eat for FREE!

Last year we had about 250 guests including approximately 30 Veterans. There was limited promotion for the cookout last year as it was an idea that came to be late in October. This year we are planning ahead and we hope to reach at least twice the number of people we did before.

Some may wonder why we are not having the event on Monday the 11th…which is actually Veterans Day. The answer to that one was simple. We decided to hold our event early because there is so much going on for Veterans on Monday. We wanted them to have more time to take advantage of everything that is going on. Besides, we think the celebration should go on for days. In addition to the cookout, we will also have our annual social media tribute. For the past three years employees of Jan Dils Attorneys at Law have submitted pictures and videos recognizing the special Veterans in their lives. We look forward to continuing this tradition in 2013.

The Walk4Vets Foundation was started by Jan Dils to support local Veterans.

Last year we had a full team effort as most of the employees in the Parkersburg office participated in some form. We honestly had a blast working together outside and meeting so many great people. A majority of the employees hadn’t worked an event like this prior. There are still a lot of details to work out, and we are planning a few additional elements, but we are going to make two big announcements regarding Veterans during the event.
