Can my veterans’ disability rating increase or decrease?

As veterans’ disability attorneys, we are often asked by our clients if their disability rating can increase or decrease over time.

In short? Yes, it can.

Unless the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) specifically states that the ratings decision they made in your case is a permanent and total rating, the percentage can change.

Be prepared; the VA may contact you from time to time for examinations to determine if the extent of your disability has changed. But if you ignore them or fail to fulfill these examination requests, this can also result in a reduced rating.

If you have questions about your disability rating, the lawyers at Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law, are experienced at helping veterans establish their disability claims at every step in the filing and appeals process. Call us toll-free at 877-526-3455 or use our online contact form.
