How To Prepare For The C&P

Here are some tips on how to approach the C&P exam to the best of your ability:

• Bring relevant medical records – The VA examiner has access to your file, but bringing supporting documents could be a plus.
• Be honest – Explain how your condition affects your everyday personal and professional life without downplaying any symptoms. The examiner needs to be able to paint the full picture.
• Take notes after the exam – Remembering how long the exam lasted and what questions were asked may help later if you need to appeal.

If the exam goes poorly, you are not out of options. You may be able to request a new exam or challenge the previous exam results.
